The East Devon beauty spot only those in the know go!

If you’re planning a visit to East Devon you will probably be heading for one of the popular seaside resorts such as Beer, Branscombe or Sidmouth.

Appealing as they are, in the height of summer, these terrific towns can become busy as holidaymakers join locals in the search for some sea air.

That’s why, if you veer off the beaten track you’ll find some stunning spots to visit where only those in the know go.

One such place is Escot Park near Ottery St Mary. Set in 1,500 acres of tranquil parkland it can be easily accessed from the A30 and is only a short drive from Exeter and the M5.

As well as lots of outdoor space, there are woodlands and a crystal clear river.

It offers the perfect getaway for dog walkers or families with young children or those who want to simply soak up the sun in the stunning Devon countryside.

In the spring, the woodland floor is carpeted with beautiful bluebells and in the summer, the water is the perfect place for a safe paddle.
